I'm taking this office as my friend and colleague Deborah Pettitt moves into the position of Past President. I look forward to continuing her legacy of leadership with playfulness in promoting our mission of providing quality play therapy education to the Arizona community along with our sister organization SAZAPT in Tucson. Together we support licensed mental health professionals pursuing their Registered Play Therapist credential or those looking to enhance and upgrade their knowledge of the use of play as a healing modality.
I'd like to review some of the activities AZAPT has been involved in over the past few months beginning with our 2010 AZAPT Annual Play Therapy Conference. Over 200 people attended Dr. Eliana Gil's lively presentation in February setting a record as one of our most successful. Thanks to those who came and please mark your calendar for February 25 and 26 when J.P. Lilly will be our 2011 conference speaker. Mr. Lilly presented at the 2010 National APT conference and was considered a favorite. We look forward to another enlightening event.
Our AZAPT Education Series continues to offer ongoing play therapy education each month. In addition to CEU's, those who attend get the added benefit of networking with other professionals in our field. I invite you to visit our website at azapt.org to get information about upcoming Ed. Series' topics and dates as well as such features as Find- A- Therapist.
Last month the Board and other volunteers enjoyed selling 50/50 Raffle tickets at the last Coyotes hockey game before the playoffs. The Coyotes won and so did we by raising over $500 for AZAPT. Thanks to the Coyotes who have generously allowed AZAPT to partner with them in raising money for the past three years. Please join us next year when we hope to do it again.
We strive to be a dynamic organization that is responsive to our members' needs. Your ideas can help to achieve that goal. I look forward to hearing from you in the coming year.
Let's play,
Liz
