CONFERENCE WORKSHOP DESCRIPTIONS

Child maltreatment, including such things as physical abuse, sexual abuse, exposure to domestic violence, and child neglect, transcends all socioeconomic boundaries and impacts every community in our nation. Learn to utilize play therapy with maltreated children and adolescents in ways that are meaningful and developmentally appropriate while reducing posttraumatic symptoms and promoting healing. Emphasizing clinical applications of play therapy, this informative seminar will provide participants with an understanding of the clinical needs of abused children and adolescents and the process of using play therapy to meet these needs. A prescriptive approach will be utilized to assist therapists in adapting their clinical practice to tailor treatment to meet the needs of each unique client to promote optimal growth and development for survivors of child abuse. Lecture, experiential activities, and case examples will provide participants with a comprehensive learning experience. Attendees will leave with play therapy interventions that can be used the next day!
