Art Therapy Techniques in Play Therapy
The purpose of this workshop is to introduce participants to several creative art therapy projects that counselors can use while working with adolescents, children and adults in play therapy. Some directive art therapy techniques will be illustrated through hands on activities involving the use of art materials as a means of self expression. A brief introduction to basic art therapy principles and theory will be discussed as well as the value of using art in assessment and as a tool to help client's resolve or process core feelings. Examples of how different Art Therapy strategies in play therapy can serve as a way for play therapists to gain additional insight into their client's world in order to facilitate the therapeutic process will be gained through the experience.
